These introductory programs offer clinical group therapy focusing on mindful awareness, defined as impartial moment-to-moment awareness. Derived from spiritual traditions and originally devised by Jon Kabat-Zinn following scientific principles, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is secular and helps people cope better with stress and chronic illness, enhancing overall well-being.
Advancements in brain imaging and Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB) systematized by Daniel Siegel have reshaped MBSR practice. My 11-week MBSRPX program integrates IPNB and Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) for enhanced efficacy. While traditional MBSR focuses on subjective mindfulness experiences, MBSRX (MBSR extended version) additionally explores connections to brain wiring, narrative integration, trauma therapy, and spirituality.
Mindfulness lies dormant within us, buried by years of mindlessness. By ceasing mindless practices, we can unleash mindfulness, ease pain, and embrace life's moments fully. Pain is unavoidable, but suffering is optional. Through rigorous training, we cultivate awareness and reduce suffering. Formal meditation and daily mindfulness practices guide us to clarity and serenity. Awareness becomes our guide, leading to profound changes and healing. Embracing the present moment, we confront doubt and delve into the mechanisms of our minds. Understanding stress and spirituality enriches our journey. Embracing failures with compassion, we grow and thrive.
Each session is structured to contain several parts:
Guided meditation practice consolidating the previous week’s homework
Introduction to a new mindfulness meditation technique
Processing of participants’ practice experience of the week
Introduction to a new theoretical topic
General Q&A
Other group exercise
